To multiply mixed numbers by any other number (fraction, whole number or another mixed number) you must first convert the mixed number to an improper fraction. To convert a mixed number to an improper fraction, you multiply the denominator by the whole number and then add the numerator to get your new numerator. The denominator stays the same. This is just the opposite of what we did in unit 10. EXAMPLES:
