She is has been for the last fifteen years an independent educational consultant and keynote speaker, and has been studying brain research for the last twenty years.
She notes that her book "is designed to be like the teacher down the hall from whom you can get a lot of ideas for orchestrating and maintaining a harmonious classroom that is a joyous and yet rigorous place to be, a place where students understand the standards and procedures, and are considered a part of the team. A classroom where every system and strategy have been thought through with how the brain works in mind."
