About This Site

In putting this site together I had two primary goals in mind:

First, I wanted to put a collection of thoughts, experiences, and people together that meant something to me. For instance, I have explained the winemaking process to numerous people, but I'd never taken the time to state it carefully. I've told many people about my travel experiences, but I often felt that they didn't really understand what it was all about.

Second, if I was going to create a web site I did not want it to be lame. The Internet has been likened to a microphone with which anyone can speak to the world. The problem is, if you could speak to the world would you have anything intelligent or interesting to say? Since I work in the online industry I have seen enough sites that don't work — hopefully I am not just adding another one to the pile.

Make It Funky

I have enjoyed putting together what I think is a pretty elegant graphic design. I will be up front and admit that the basic idea is an imitation of a site that a company I used to work for built for a client, but they have long since dumped the design, so I don't feel guilty. I have resisted the urge to include a bunch of DHTML wizardry, instead opting for clean and simple.
